Data API Terms

Terms for the Sanctions Atlas Data API: independent non-government status, source attribution obligations that must be preserved when data is shown or shared, the editorial nature of canonical entity grouping, and research-use boundaries. The API makes no compliance determination and is not legal advice.

Normal professional work is expressly permitted, including internal organisational use, client memoranda and reports, due-diligence and research reports, journalism, academic, commercial and policy research, derived analysis, and reasonable display of individual or limited results inside customer applications. Bulk redistribution, reselling access or credentials, and operating a substitute sanctions-data service require a separate written data licence.

Also covers timeliness and completeness disclaimers, best-effort availability without an SLA, API key security, rate-limit fair use, the officially published personal data in the sanctions corpus and the customer lawful-use obligation that goes with it, what happens to access and keys when a subscription lapses, and governing law under Minnesota law with Olmsted County and District of Minnesota venue.
