Executive Order 13848, signed on 12 September 2018, declared a national emergency over the threat of foreign interference in US elections. It requires the Director of National Intelligence to assess interference after any United States election and authorises the Treasury to block foreign persons found to have interfered, including through unauthorised access to election infrastructure or covert distribution of disinformation.
