VEN denotes the European Union's restrictive measures in view of the situation in Venezuela, established by Council Regulation (EU) 2017/2063 and an accompanying Council Decision of 13 November 2017. Adopted amid concerns over democracy, the rule of law and human rights, the framework combines an arms embargo and a ban on equipment usable for internal repression with asset freezes and travel bans on listed officials, and has been renewed annually.
